Action Movie Calendar

2021 2020  2019 2018 2017 2016

I apologize for not having time to keep up with the calendar pages (college courses/full-time job). Back when I closed out 2018, it seemed like there were less and less Action Movies in theatres (with many I would have liked to have seen on the big screen going straight to disc). I wished that Action Movies would be back on the rise (rated R got big again—even Sylvester Stallone said he should have not gone PG). 2019 had quite a few Action Movies I was REALLY looking forward to—here were my choices.  But then Covid-19 killed 2020, for the most part. I really like doing this because it's a year-at-a-glance kind of thing that's helpful to look back on.  I am working to catch up and wondering where are tomorrow's new big beefy Action Figures coming from? Will they be female? Isn't it past due that we have truly strong women on screen? Where are the Private Vasquez types? The Rock's daughter Simone? Any of Arnold's kids? Van Damme's daughter? Ronda? When will they finally make She Hulk (Gaby Garcia? RIP Chyna) Can they do it without it being ridiculous/ unintentionally humorous? She would have to take a ton of shit first before using her power . . . like Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.

I adopted a new mantra: "But is it an Action Movie?" scoring movies on a list I made of Action Movie Essentials to see if it's an Action Movie, or just a "movie with action". Can't wait to get the biggies under my belt and see what the scores reveal.

  • The Six Billion Dollar Man (starring Mark Wahlberg This is from FilmFad.com "The story is loosely based on Martin Caidin's 1972 bestseller, Cyborg. The book inspired the film's television-based predecessor, ABC's Lee Majors led The Six Million Dollar Man as well as spin-of series The Bionic Woman.
