January
Glassdrama sci-fi mystery
January 18 Not Action but . . . "Security guard, David Dunn, uses his
supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man
who has twenty-four personalities."
February
Cold Pursuitaction drama thriller
February 8 "A snowplow driver seeks revenge against
the drug dealers he thinks killed his son. Based on the 2014
Norwegian film 'In Order of Disappearance'."
Alita Battle Angelaction adventure romance
February 14 "An action-packed story of one young
woman's journey to discover the truth of who she is, and her fight
to change the world."
The script seems impactful and important for women, but it's in
contrast to her looks and the Director . . . #justsaying I have high
hopes for it anyway. "I do not stand by in the presence of
evil." "She is threatening the natural order of
things . . . "
"And I'm just an insignificant girl." "Yeah, that's what they
want you think." "You made the biggest mistake of your life—underestimating who I am."
The CGI action choreography looks great. Love it when they make use
of gravity.
March
Captain Marvelaction adventure sci-fi
March 8 "Carol Danvers becomes one of the
universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle
of a galactic war between two alien races." Writer/Directors Anna
Boden and Ryan Fleck are helming Marvel's first solo female-led
movie (Wonder Woman is DC). IMDb reveals that "The filmmakers cite
1990s action movies as an influence on the action, in keeping with
the era in which the film is set." (Blockbuster part was hilarious.
Loved every minute of it.)
Triple Threataction thriller
March 22 First and foremost! I
mean,
Michael Jai White,
Scott Adkins, Tony Jaa,
Iko Uwais,
Tiger Chen, and Jeeja
Yanin (and more) all in one film! No wonder the poster
is just a list of names . . .
The IMDb plot
summary reads "A hit contract is taken out on a
billionaire's daughter intent on bringing down a major crime
syndicate. A down-and-out team of mercenaries must take on a
group of professional assassins, and stop them before they kill
their target."

Shazam!
action adventure fantasyApril 5
"We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's case, by shouting out one word - SHAZAM! - this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult superhero Shazam."
Hellboy
action adventure fantasyApril 12
Why does he look weird? Because it's not Ron Perlman (it's
CIA agent Gregg Beam from Quantum of Solace). This is
a "complete reboot and not a continuation of the previous movies." IMDb also reveals "This film adapts the England-set Hellboy stories
"The Wild Hunt" and "The Storm and the Fury", where Nimue becomes
the Queen of Blood and Hellboy in his battle with her brings about
the apocalypse."
Master Z: Ip Man Legacy
action crimeApril 12
"While keeping a low profile after his defeat by Ip Man, Cheung Tin Chi gets into trouble after getting in a fight with a powerful foreigner."
Directed by the best: Yueng Woo-Ping, it stars Michelle Yeoh, Tony
Jaa, Dave Bautista, and Jin Zhang
Avengers: Endgame
action adventure fantasy sci-fiApril 26
3 hours, 1 minute! "In the aftermath of Thanos wiping out half of all life in
the universe, the remaining Avengers must do what's necessary to
undo the Mad Titan's deed." It hit EVERY right note and it was
super hard not to cry. #justsaying

May 3
A quote from Director Yimou Zhang:
"Because of the influence of Chinese martial arts films, Hollywood
movies are changing. The action in the films is more beautiful, more
rhythmic, and uses some enhanced special effects. I think it's a
great thing."
